The Origin Story
Just like all good things, it started with a mum: Vanessa, our founder, had a daughter and found herself flabbergasted at the intensity of it all. She talked to other parent friends – they felt the same – and tried to find specialist emotional support, only to come across months-long waiting lists and triage processes that excluded all but the most troubling-sounding cases. She read and researched and scoured the country for therapists who understood that becoming a mother was not the kind of thing that could be met with standard CBT, or any other generic support. And she found them – qualified therapists who spend money and time on specialising in matrescence, leaders in their field who love the complexity and nuance, who see how beautiful and brutal it is to have and raise children in this world. And all that was left then was to put them together in one place, and Mothering Minds was born. So thank you for looking, and if you’re in need of support, we’d love to help.

What we stand for

Every mum we speak to feels overwhelmed. Gabor Maté calls it “intensive mothering” – the result of a breakdown of community, and the rising pressure to perform and protect in an insecure and unstable world. There’s a deep disconnect between society and the reality of what it takes to have and raise a child. It is more than the sleepless nights or the hormones (though, yes, those too) – it’s the emotional load, the constant decisions, the loneliness. The quiet grief for the life you’ve led before, and the guilt for feeling that way.
Mothering Minds is a space to talk honestly about those parts of motherhood. We provide talk therapy, peer support and resources rooted in compassion, evidence-based care, and community. We’re here to validate, empower, and gently guide — not to judge or “fix.” Whatever you’re feeling, there’s room for it here.
Our hope
That every mother — and every parent — can feel held, seen, and supported through one of the biggest transitions of their life.
Thanks for stopping by. We’re so glad you found us.
