Work with us

We love working with expecting and new parents. If you do too - and bring the right clinical expertise - we'd love to hear from you. Apply to join us below.

Why we're here

We started Mothering Minds so anyone navigating pre-conception, pregnancy and postpartum could reach a therapist who truly understands this stage of life, within days rather than months. That depends on skilled, curious clinicians, so we've built a place to help you focus on client work, learn alongside other perinatal specialists, and shape how this work is done.

Join us as a qualified therapist

What we're looking for

✅ You are registered as a psychotherapist or clinical/counselling psychologist with BACP, UKCP, HCPC or an equivalent recognised body.

✅ You are based in, and able to practise in the UK, have your own insurance and appropriate supervision in place.

✅ You keep up with research and conversations about parenthood and maternal mental health, and you're interested in the hormonal, relational and social sides of becoming a parent, not only the presenting problem.

✅ You don't need a perinatal background to apply. If you meet the criteria above, we'll consider you if you have strong adjacent experience, or completed at least 20 hours of perinatal-focused CPD. More in our FAQs below.

What you get

⭐️ Weekly new referrals, listed with availability and therapy goals, ready for you to claim and book in.

⭐️ Monthly peer supervision sessions led by our Clinical Lead, focused on perinatal themes and real cases, alongside your own supervision.

⭐️ A network of perinatal specialists. Share cases, research and ideas with therapists who care about this work as much as you do.

⭐️ Flexibility to set your own caseload and hours around your existing practice and other commitments.

⭐️ A growing, press-backed platform and a small team to handle enquiries, marketing, social media and payments for you - so you can focus on the work you love.

⭐️ It's all paid - no free initial sessions or unpaid consults.

Trainee placements

We offer a small number of placements for trainee therapists. If you’d like to apply, fill in the form. We keep applications on file and get in touch when a place opens.

You’ll need to be:

  • enrolled on a UKCP/BACP accredited counselling or psychotherapy training programme, or a clinical/counselling psychologist degree
  • at a stage where you can see clients under supervision, with a placement requirement from your provider,
  • interested in focusing your work on perinatal and parental mental health.

Curious about perinatal training?

Whether you’re qualified or in training, you can register interest in our training pathway: a short on-demand introduction and a live foundation cohort. Sign up and be first to hear when places open.

FAQs

Is this paid?

Qualified therapists are self-employed and paid for every session they deliver. We'll talk you through fees at interview. Trainee placements are unpaid.

I don't have perinatal experience. Can I still apply?

Yes, if you have strong adjacent experience, or once you've completed at least 20 hours of perinatal-focused CPD.

See suggested CPD resources →

Does your own training count towards the 20 hours?

We are currently developing our perinatal foundation programme. Once it’s live, it may serve for the required hours, but it's one option among many. Any relevant perinatal CPD counts.

I'm newly qualified. Is that a problem?

No. Some of our strongest therapists joined soon after qualifying. What matters is your registration, your clinical thinking, and your interest in this work.

Are you interested in any particular backgrounds or modalities?

We're especially keen to hear from therapists from non-white and mixed backgrounds, male therapists, and those qualified to work with couples. We also welcome more applications from therapists who work with perinatal CBT or are trained in EMDR.

What happens after I apply?

We read every application ourselves and aim to reply within two weeks. If you haven't heard from us by then, feel free to chase.
